World Burning Down

Billy’s latest project, World Burning Down, is a six song CD addressing issues within the church through artful song. In anticipation of releasing this project, January 2020, we will be releasing one song, “All The Wolves”, via a lyric video on Wednesday, Nov 13, 2019.

“All the Wolves” is one of the most bold, challenging songs on the project addressing false teachers and the prosperity gospel head on. Look for Billy’s personal words (below) shedding light on the foundation in which the lyrics were built and the heart behind them.

Billy’s writing (music and lyrics) is stylistically different this time around… not the typical worship style of previous recordings. However, this singer/songwriter project is worshipful in the sense that it comes from a man after God’s own heart holding in high esteem God’s Word and unchanging character in beautiful art form, rich in thought and purpose.

Billy stopped leading out in vocals, both in live and recorded settings, many years ago due to a neurological disorder called Hyper Dysphonia - a progressive condition that causes his vocal cords to spasm. But Billy knew the message of these songs needed to be offered in his own voice. He wrote the songs with his limited vocal range in mind and came to see the rawness and warbles of his voice as a perfect fit for the work God was doing through him in this endeavor. Cindy, who typically leads out in vocals, creatively came around Billy’s voice with background vocals giving this project a unique blend of raw, unpolished honesty supported by gentleness and love. The finished product is haunting, as it should be.

World Burning Down was produced by Michael Rossback of Crystal Village Studios in Durango, CO. Billy experienced authentic relationship and brilliant talent working with Michael. The musicality of this project, as you will discover, is remarkable. We will never be able to thank Michael and the other musicians enough for their unique giftings displayed throughout this work.

Lastly, Special thanks to Billy’s parents, Billy and Winky Foote, and Billy’s sister and brother-in-law, Wendy and Robbie Tompkins, for significantly supporting this project financially and in prayer.

All the Wolves

A Note from Billy:

“All the Wolves” is a heavy song. I did not write this song to be funny, flippant, spiteful, or “cutting edge”. The purpose is to bring to light the overwhelming amount of false teaching we find in our “Christian culture” today and remind the church what Scripture says about those who take advantage of God’s people for personal gain.

The prosperity gospel is no gospel at all and has led to too many CEO business-minded men masquerading as pastors. Their love for power, control and fame comes at the expense of the true gospel and has wounded countless souls…. particularly, the most vulnerable. This is not just an American church problem, but we have led the way.

Cindy and I have counted the cost in releasing this song. We have dear friends, who say they are Christians, that do not believe Jesus is the only way or even that there is a hell. We understand we are flying in the face of this culture, this day and time. Scripture tells us Jesus did the same. We also know even those who believe the true gospel may recoil at the words “all the wolves will burn in hell”. Our prayer is that the repetition of those words will birth a sense of sorrow and urgency for the world burning down around us.

Please take time to read what the New Testament says about the false teachers and wolves among us.

2 Peter 2: 1-3 Matthew 7: 15-19 Romans 16: 17-18 Acts 20:28-31 John 10:12-13 Matthew 24: 4-14, 24 Mark 13:22 2 Cor. 11:13-15 I John 4:1 I Timothy 1:3-7 I Timothy 6: 3-10 2 Timothy 4:3-4 Ephesians 5:11 Galations 1: 6-9 2 John 1: 7-11 Rev. 22: 18-19 Ephesians 4:14-16 Jude 3-13, 18-21 2 Timothy 3:1-9 Titus 1:6-11

2 Peter 2:1-3 “But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them - bringing swift destruction on themselves. Many will follow their depraved conduct and will bring the way of truth into disrepute. In their greed, these teachers will exploit you with fabricated stories. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping.”

Matthew 7: 15-19 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thorn bushes, or figs from thistles? So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit. A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.”
